One Year Anniversary Speech

I am here, standing as your Federal Representative and Law Maker, not because I am the best of you but simply because I am the chosen of you.

One can say, "lam the privileged one." It behoves me to commence my first anniversary speech on this premise: Be it now or sooner, God's plans can neither be evaded nor depraved. I was born to serve you.

All that I've been through in this life; all of my exposure, all of life's blows, and blessings were of the purpose of equipping me to serve you this day. We are here to mark the beginning; the very first year of my service, and the response to that divine call. From the people in my village, to the people in my ward to the people in my Federal Constituency, and indeed, the entire Akwa Ibomites, YouthSlot is God's idea for servant-leadership, for honest representation, and perhaps, for transformation. Every time I pray, I embrace God's grace to be the relish of that idea. I thank God Almighty, the creator of life and time, the one who plants everything in its season. But for God, we'll only be hoping and wishing and never coming to the reality of this day. When I contested the election, I saw God's hands working in me, exuding confidence in the face of trials; being my fortress and my shield in the face of stiff, unrepentant opposition. I saw God, face-to-face, friend: crafting me through it all, like a sculpture in the hands of an artiste.

My natural stoicism will not let me recount it all. But in all, it has been the Grace of God and the people who were willing vessels in God's hands. My wife and my family have been my haven. And I'm double-literal about that. They taught me, again and again, that family is not where different people share the same blood, but also where different people join hands to the divers' goals of ene another. My family had been that and more for me. They are one of God's best gifts for me. I thank my wife, very specially, Mrs Ini-idara Clement Jimbo, for the unfavourable times she endured that let me through the demanding schedules of my office, and even during the electioneering period. For protecting and keeping our ideals. I also thank the kids for the love and understanding they show to let me discharge my duties as a public servant. To you, my people, Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, I am standing on your love and support. Thank you.

Your overwhelming 54,996 votes handed YouthSlot the mandate. Your prayers and noble advice propel the mandate every waking day. Thank you is the best; my mouth can utter. And perhaps, my good strides will mirror the lengths and the breadth, the heights, and the depths of my gratitude. I also want to thank those who are yet to understand or believe in the YouthSlot mandate. Some of you didn't vote for me. I understand and will improve in all facets; to register in your minds as the right brand for your dreams and that of your kids. I love you and will keep standing for your interests as long as I'm in office. To my opponents and the guys on the other side, you make the turf fun and worthy. You remain a key part of my proding system; to keep my legs on the pedals and to ideate even better plans for the benefits of our society. Thank you. But please don't miss the seamlessness of the maze of my leadership.

Last and very deary, my Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC. I joined the Party for the wide range of leverage to reach Nigerians with the YouthSlot mission. When Abak/Etim Ekpo and Ika people seemed stuck in the shred of mediocrity. Little did I know that much more than rescue will your broad levers offer me. Thank you for the trust. Thank you for the roadmap. Thank you for the support. Thank you for the push and reminders. Thank you for all. I'll keep saying that the days of shithousery are over in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency. Gone are the days of man-no-man politics. The YouthSlot mandate is for everybody.

I am here to open the eyes of everyone to know that good governance is not rocket science. I enjoyed a conspicuous victory at the poll because you were all tired and were waiting for an opportunity to demonstrate your tiredness. My time in the Nigeria's 10th National Assembly will be a testament of Effective Representation, Responsible Leadership and Shared Prosperity coloured with benign and congruent intergrity, poised to relieve the faces across our communities, and unleash hope for the common man to live and dream. I have a dream that Abak/Etim Ekpo/iIka Federal Constituency will set the rhythm and inspire others to follow. People always marvel and ask, "Hon. Jimbo, are you really a first termer..?" and I ask, "But how?" "You're doing what many first termer have not done within only one year in office," they'd often express their shock.

The truth is that i was born ready, and my preparation phases are refined to our common context. My numerous career exposure was enacting and weaving my readiness for a time like this. Our projects, as you have seen everywhere, are the trophies of my readiness. Perhaps, you have seen the 2 phases of the YouthSlot Empowerment Projects. You have also seen the YouthSlots participation in many Football tournaments. I believe you have seen our infrastructural projects; from roads grading to renovations (and fresh building projects). You have seen our health sector projects. You have seen our women empowerment projects. I have also made Bills and Motions and laid Petitions that have impacted our people tremendously. Some of them are captured in the magazine in your hand. You have seen or at least have heard what the YouthSlot mandate has brought to us.

There's no infrastructural and human development sector that we have not impacted in this past one year. Thanks to my relentless commitment and team members. Our people use to Say, "keed anem Ntom, iba?" You can be sure that our 2nd anniversary shall be coated with much more because we are made of more. We'll go more into the health sector and give, especially, our children and elderly hope to live and dream again. We'll triple-up on building and restoring infrastructure in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency. We'll roll out more Youths/Women Empowerment Projects. We'll make good governance a dream come through for sundry. You shall be there to witness these in Jesus’ name. Thank you again for praying and trusting the YouthSlot mandate.
